The book: Narrow

The book Narrow is an American  based novel,  written in first person narrative  which focuses on the troubles and challenges  of the main character  Victoria Dante.

It focuses  on the narrow path she was coerced into to waking through a narrow path — barefoot.
With so many pebble and stones and rocks, it focuses on her journey from pain,  depression, death, hatred,  revenge and of course remorse.

You see,  the one thing about this book  that I love so much,  was the author made the main  character experience  the different  aspects of life and various problems,  the character  was made to go through various challenges, where she was seen at her weakest and it focused  on how she reacted to each situation  and problem that came her way.

The main character,  Victoria Dante was portrayed as an emotionally broken,  anti social teenager,  who has yearned for only one thing — love.  She was brought up by her aunt after she was abandoned by her father at the age of three.

The author wasted to time,  in diving into the main plot of the story,  seemingly in a haste to uncover other characters and their development,  one of the core characters was Cole who portrayed the behaviour of teenagers as well as people who place a bet on people emotions, it focused  on Bruce the  boy from high school who was obsessed  with her. Her best friend who had betrayed her,  her cousin who was envious, and of course let's not forget the silent onlookers — Tyler.

The main character  had to deal with a roller coaster of emotions, from being abandoned at the age of 3, to dealing with a psycothic bipolar  guardian, as well as being the object of obsession for a toxic maniac Cole, she also had to deal  with the hatred that was directed at her contuniously,  it was overwhelming.

The book in general wasn't just talking about the girl,  it was one person talking about thousands  of people,  thousands of Victoria's  who had one way or the other,  been neglected,  raped,  the subject t of harassment  or bullying and who had  the object of the vultures of the earth who constantly  fed on her self esteem.

It spoke  about the thousands of Victoria's  who never had a voice to speak or an ear to listen, who were alone and in desperate  need of love and affection  or even compassion, the book was written in first person narrative  which enabled the reader to be exposed to the thoughts of the main character  which were quite —depressing

The book was like a call out, to the victims of rape, to those who were contemplating  suicide, to those who were without affection  or lacked the protection of love, it had a clear message — you are not alone. Suicide is never an option,  it is never a solution and it is definitely not the only choice.

Yes. The main character committed suicide,  but it was made quite obvious that she was sad with her decision,  she was filed by hate,  and more than once he had expressed her regret.

The book narrow is a must read for every teenager,  it provokes various thoughts especially  the clash  between the main characters twin, who had apparently  lived the life he yearned for so much.

“I want to be the voice,  of the many Victoria's who never got the chance to speak and the ear that hears their silent cries...” — Victoria Dante

“how can you save someone,  who dosen't want to be saved?” — Vanessa Dante

“you were supposed to be my rainbow,  but all you did was bask me with darkness”—Victoria dante

“ but,  since when was suicide an option   she could have stayed she could have fought I agree I messed up,  but she made that choice her self” — Cole darwin

“do you know why people refuse to trust easily? It's because of betrayals like these” —Victoria Dante
